School Speaking

THEN: In 2012, as a sophomore in high school, I created a local youth literary project called “Write Your Future” to help young students visualize their dreams through goal-setting and storytelling. I spoke at 8 elementary and middle schools, then conducted 3 creative writing projects with 400+ students. Each project asked students to write a short story about what they wanted to be when they grew up, but with a creative writing twist (such as, an aspiring veterinarian accidentally gives an injured dog superpowers and they become a crime fighting duo). One of these creative writing compilations, Living Your Dream After Graduation, was self-published in 2014 and sold to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

NOW: Over a decade later, working with students is still a passion of mine. Though no longer called Write Your Future, my new school speaking curriculum, Anchored, brings an updated twist to my original mission. Anchored helps students identify their unique gifts and passions, then teaches them how these strengths can anchor their present and steer their future.
